The Paper Engine is Aaron Fischer's latest (only?) book. His work is highly acclaimed in magician's circles, and is still gaining recognition.
GOOD POINTS: -- This hardcover book is absolutely gorgeous. It's linen-covered with gold and purple embossing on the front and sides, and has cloth binding - just as it would be centuries ago. It even has weight, though it's a small book. The paper inside is acid-free and includes high-quality photos to learn with, and there is even a lovely piece of textured card stock packaged onto the back when it's wrapped up for shipping that acts as a back-cover blurb so that the publishers wouldn't have to print anything on the back, but could just leave the linen untouched.
--All of the material is top-notch card work. Aaron Fischer is a true master, and constantly delivers brilliant and innovative card magic throughout the book.
BAD POINTS: -- There aren't too many bad things to say about this. However, first is the content: It's pretty low, with a total of 11 sleights by Fischer and 12 routines.
-- The price! At 126 pages, it's $40.00. It's not exactly cheap. However, the content almost makes up for it.
I give the book an 8.5 out of 10.
